“I want to give you one hundred, twenty-dollar bills,”

Bolan said. “That’s two thousand dollars just to open your door and hear us out.”

“Hear you out about what?”

“I won’t say more until you open this door, Marwan.”

Bolan snapped, his voice low. “I killed five men to make sure I got this chance to talk to you, but I won’t say another word until I find the microphone-bug those Armenians hid in your place.”

There was silence from the other side of the door.

After a second Bolan heard a string of Arabic curses being muttered. Then there was a loud sigh and Bolan knew he had the old man.

“Armenians?” Marwan’s voice was resigned.

“That’s right,” Bolan acknowledged. “Armenians.

Know anybody who might send Armenian mercs to shadow you?”

“Wait,” Marwan said.

Bolan lowered the hand holding up the money. The three Stony Man commandos heard a series of dead bolts being thrown back. James drifted off a little to his left, prepared to swing the Viper into action. Bolan stood without moving, his expression neutral.

The door opened an inch to the end of a security chain. Bolan saw a brown eye, bloodshot and yellowed under a bushy, gray-haired eyebrow, peering out at him.

Suspicion was a tangible glint there.

“Are you armed?” Marwan demanded, his voice gruff.

“Bet your ass I’m armed,” Bolan retorted. “But if I’d wanted to kill you, I would have pulled the trigger on the sniper rifle I had trained on the back of your head while you watched Almal Walbanoun, ” Bolan APPOINTMENT IN BAGHDAD

Yazid spit a foul curse in frustration, then closed the door. Bolan heard him snap the chain clear, then the door swung open wide, admitting them.

“Come in quickly before someone hears you speaking English,” he snapped.
